Darren N. Buckley is an investor, entrepreneur and long-standing Asia-based business leader with almost four decades of experience across banking, investment and operating environments.
He is Founder, Chairman and CEO of Pelago X, where he brings together independent capital, commercial judgement and cross-border relationships to invest in and help build future-facing businesses.
Career and qualifications
Over almost 30 years with Citi, Darren held senior roles across London, New York and Asia, including leadership responsibility in Japan, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos. His later roles included senior leadership at Techcombank in Vietnam.
He is a UK Chartered Accountant and a graduate in Business Finance & Economics.
External affiliations
Beyond his executive career, Darren has served as Chairman of the Association of International Banks in Thailand, President of AMCHAM Thailand and Vice Chairman of the Thai Board of Trade. He has also served on international business and education boards in Japan and Thailand.
He currently serves on the General Committee of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club and is an honorary professor at two Chinese universities.
